Discipleship: The Great Commission Revisited

Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Matt. 28:18-20

This is the great commission that Jesus gave to his disciples. We are to go out and make disciples for Jesus. We are to baptize them and teach them the ways of God. Then they are to be able to go out and do the same. We are to tell them to follow us, as we follow Christ. Just as Paul says...

Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ. 1 Cor. 11:1

We know by now that "church" is not an organization, building, or denomination that you attend. The church is God's people. So stop "attending" church and come out of false religion. We are the church and we must be the church by how we conduct our lives in service for God. Church is not about a weekly attendance of an organized body in which you gather in a building and listen to someone speak. As God's people, we are not meant to be confined within the walls of a building, but we are instead to "go out" into the world and fulfill the great commission. This is everyone's duty as a follower of Christ.

Now everyone does possess different gifts and talents that they can contribute, but we should all try to play some type of role in the great commission...
